In this video I run through how to detail disassemble and reassemble a 1911, or a 1911a1 or a Colt Series 80 1991 type pistol.
One variation on disassembly that some prefer is to remove the slide stop and the slide before turning the barrel bushing and extracting the recoil spring. Both are correct methods.
The 1911 and the 1911a1 do not have the Series 80 firing pin safety and the steps dealing with those parts can of course be omitted for the 1911 and the 1911a1 designs.
